Production & Quality
The products of Old Holland are produced by our team of professional staff with care and dedication.Traditional experience, technological know-how, consultation with artists around the world result in a range of oil paints, watercolours and acrylic paints, as well as médiums, varnishes, solvents, primers, gessos and gels, of the highest quality. Below you find the different stages of our traditional production proces.
During the process, the quality is guarded by conducting quality-checks after several stages. After finishing, the quality of the final product is checked for each batch before shipment. The process as shown below is more or less the same for most products we produce, however some paints require a different and/or additional step. All the ingredients for our paints (such as pigments and binding agents) are rigorously tested prior to selection.

The First stage of the process of manufacturing our top quality oil paints is mixing pigments with linseed oil.
More+ -
Depending on the sort of pigment used, the initial oil paint mixture is passed through a triple roll mill several times, to achieve optimum consistency.
More+ -
Once the paints have been manufactured, the tubes are individually filled by hand.
More+ -
After being filled, the tubes are sealed hermetically.
More+ -
The same paint as contained in the tubes is used to paint the sheets used to make the colour strips attached to the exterior of the tubes.
More+ -
In our labelling department, a colour strip and a label are manually affixed to each tube using adhesive.
More+ -
Random samples of all tubes of paint manufactured are subjected to numerous quality checks in our laboratory.

The paint is ready for shipment to our customers!
