Old Holland Painting of the Year 2020 contest

Word of the year, player of the year, person of the year. December is a period of reflection and celebration. How would you feel if Old Holland chose your art as the first ever Old ‘Holland Painting of the Year’?

2020 was a year unlike any other. A strange year, but also a year in which more and more people found ways to express themselves. We were overwhelmed by the number of creative spirits who used our paints and displayed their work on social media.

The “Old Holland Painting of the Year” contest is our way of sharing some of your work with the world, and deciding together which artist created our favourite painting of the year. Anyone can enter the contest by posting their work on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #OldHollandPOTY and tagging us (@oldhollandcolours on INSTAGRAM or @oldholland on FB). We’ll select 16 pieces and our followers can then vote on their favorite piece of work for 2020.

The winner will not only receive the title of ‘Painting of the Year’, but also an Old Holland introduction set and four additional colours of choice. Also, the winner will be profiled in a ‘Meet the Artist’ article on our website. The four semi-finalists will be celebrated in one blogpost and receive an oil paint introduction set. • You can only enter the competition with one work which has to be made in 2020.
• Your post must include the contest hashtag and tag Old Holland to be considered a submission.
• Old Holland will make a pre-selection of 16 works which will then enter the knock-out phase. In this phase, sets of works will compete against each other for 24 hours at a time. Fans and followers can then vote for their favourite. The winner goes to the next round.
• The knock-out phase will run through January, and the final will be in the first week of February.
• The last four contestants will be mentioned on the Old Holland website and receive an Old Holland introduction set.
• The winner receives a ‘Meet the Artist’ article on our website, the titel ‘Old Holland painting of the year 2020’, and four extra colours, free of choice.

By entering:

• You’re giving Old Holland permission to repost, share or otherwise publish your work as they see fit. This includes distribution on social media, websites and other types of media such as video or print.
• The prize can in no way be exchanged for cash or other products.
• The selection of the final 16 works competing with each other, will be done by Old Holland. There is no possibility of corresponding about this selection.
• Should a situation arise not covered in these rules, the decision of Old Holland will be considered final and binding.
